WKC Radio: Southern Smoke

Curated by Williams Ambassador & Pitmaster Matt Register

There are a lot of ways to spend the Fourth of July.

You can fight boat traffic, stand in long lines, or spend half the day looking for a parking spot.

Or you can do what Matt Register does.

Start the smoker before sunrise. Put something worth cooking on the grate. Gather a few friends and family. Crack a cold drink. Turn up the music and let the day unfold.

This edition of WKC Radio comes from our good friend and Williams ambassador, Matt Register, owner of Southern Smoke BBQ in Garland, NC. If you've ever spent time around a smoker, you know the best barbecue isn't rushed. It's slow, intentional, and best enjoyed with good company.

The same goes for a good playlist.

Matt put together a collection of songs built for long cooks, cold beers, backyard gatherings, and celebrating the Fourth the way it ought to be celebrated.

Whether you're tending a brisket, pulling pork, grilling burgers, or just hanging around the patio waiting on dinner, these tunes belong in the rotation.

And if you're doing it right, they're coming through a Turtlebox speaker loud enough for the whole neighborhood to enjoy. We're digging the magnetized Turtlebox Ranger this summer.

So fire up the smoker. Sharpen the knife. Grab a drink.

We'll handle the soundtrack.

About Matt Register

Known throughout the barbecue world for his Eastern North Carolina roots and championship-level barbecue, Matt Register has built a reputation around doing things the right way: quality ingredients, time-honored techniques, and bringing people together around great food.

When he's not cooking for crowds or competing across the country, you'll likely find him with family and friends, standing beside a smoker, a cold drink in hand, and music playing in the background.

This playlist is a reflection of exactly that.

Happy Fourth of July from Williams Knife Co.

Good food. Good music. Good people.

That's what it's all about.
